Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam Day — Day 79 of 138

Today was our final day in Ho Chi Minh City. The city, formally known as Saigon is Vietnam’s largest city. Saigon was also the capital of South Vietnam, but upon reunification the capitol transitioned to Hanoi, the capitol of the former North Vietnam. Saigon is the cultural center of the country and retains much of the French influence from the French colonial past.

We had no formal tours planned for today as we had to be back on board the ship by 1:00 PM, so had a leisurely breakfast with the rest of our travel companions. After breakfast Kully and one the other ladies went to a local spa for a manicure and pedicure ($27.00 USD), and I went for a walk around the central city.

We want to use todays post to show a gallery of pictures we’ve taken over the past three days that we hope will show a little more about the personality of both Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam. There’s no particular order or theme to the photos, just some of the scenes we’ve enjoyed over the past four days. Enjoy.

We really enjoyed our time in Ho Chi Minh City. The people were very friendly and accommodating. We definitely understand why Vietnam has become such a popular tourist destination.

Tomorow we are at sea. Our next port of call is Koh Samui, Thailand on Wednesday, 13 March.
