Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, India — Day 99 of 138

We started today gathering with our group at 6:00 AM for a morning safari in the Tiger Reserve. We headed out shortly after, but this time we went to area three of the park which was only about a 10-minute drive from our hotel. The terrain here was much different than the area of the park we were in yesterday, hillier and more water. The big prize that we were looking for today was a mother tiger with two cubs that are nine months old— almost full grown, but still dependent upon mom to hunt. It was a huge day we saw virtually all game the park has to offer with the exception of Leopards. We managed to see all of the deer and antelope we saw yesterday plus crocodiles, the sloth bear, numerous birds, black faced monkeys and ultimately all three of the tigers we were looking for. The mother walked within 20 yards of the truck, but the cubs were roughly 300 yards away, so the photos of the cubs are a little blurry.

A few other things we saw on the road today.

This afternoon we made our way back to Jaipur for our flight to Mumbai and then on to Mauritius where we will rejoin our ship on Tuesday. We are currently in the Mumbai airport waiting to board our overnight flight to Mauritius.
